WolfQuest

A few years ago an online game called WolfQuest was created by educators at the Minnesota Zoo.  The game allows players to form packs, hunt elk, and find mates.  The game allows players to be a part of an ecosystem that only few scientists are ever able to witness.  Now, according to Katie Ash in the April 6 edition of Ed Week, kids are able to join the wolf ecosystem.  I read about this and since I am teaching science now to my class, I thought I would implement it, but, we have only two computers in the classroom and the OAKS tests have started so it is hard to find the time to get kids on.  I was happy to find this and also irritated as we covered this in the fall and I just learned about it now.  It was not as if I was not looking for things to do using the computers.  We studied the sun, moon, and earth relationship using some cool websites.  What irritates me I guess is the lack of information.  Unless I attend a science teaching workshop I will not learn about new and useful things.  I would love to attend one, but being in special ed, it is more important to attend workshops concerning abuse and behavior.  A little more in school support would be appreciated.  It seems to be all about reading.  Reading is great, but how about some other options.
